Hey, I’m Brittany—wife, homeschooling mom, pro-life speaker, and abortion recovery coach. For over 10 years, I carried the weight of my abortion silently, desperately wanting to grow closer to God but feeling unworthy… like I had committed the unforgivable sin.
I believed that in order to “win back” my salvation, I needed to do all the right things and somehow save myself through works. I became a “yes girl” and overworked and overachieved myself straight into a depression I was desperate to crawl out of.
After I finally crashed and burned, God opened my eyes: If I was going to grow closer to Him and truly heal my heart, I needed to come back to the true gospel of Jesus, accept His forgiveness, and stop running in fear.
I dug into the Bible, found accountability and community with other Christian women, and stopped listening to the lies of the enemy that kept me stuck in shame and guilt. And now—I’m here to help you do the same.

It’s our LAST installment of the Stages of Grief Series! Today, we are talking about acceptance in regards to the last stage of grief.
So, what does acceptance after our abortion truly mean? Does it mean that we're ok now? That we aren't grieving anymore? Does it mean we're ok with our abortion and think that it was a good thing?
Grief is not something we "grow out of." Grief is always a part of us, but we learn to grow around it. We can get to the stage of acceptance in our grief without thinking that what we did was good or ok. We are going to talk more about that today, so get ready to dive in.

Have you ever done something wrong, or maybe not lived up to an expectation, and then tried to make it up to the person you wronged?
Maybe you said you’d get home at certain time and were late, so you told your spouse you would make it up to them somehow.
Perhaps you missed out on hanging out with your child so promised them ice cream or a treat to make up for it.
In each situation, you’re bargaining in an effort to keep the peace.
While these actions are fairly trivial in comparison to what we’re talking about, they are still examples of what we do when we know we've done wrong.
When it comes to our abortion decision, it’s common for us to feel like we need to pay a penance for what we've done. While this is just a small part of what the stage of bargaining looks like, it's important that we talk about it and move on from it.
I pray that this episode helps you as you move through this stage in your grief.

Anger: it's one of the strongest emotions, yet it's also one that is caused by other emotions and feelings. When we experience anger, it is typically due to another raw emotion that we are feeling.
When we think about anger in regards to abortion, we often struggle with anger due to grief, shame, guilt, and regret. We may feel angry with ourselves, with God, with the doctor, with our friends, with the father of the baby, or with others directly or indirectly involved in our decision.
While anger is normal, it must not continue. We must do our best to heal and move on from our anger. If we do not, we are not able to fully and properly heal from our abortion experience. We have to let it go before bitterness and resentment set in.
