When people think about proving God is real, they think about tangible proof. If you can’t see Him, He must not exist. At least, that’s what a nonbeliever would say. And if you’re not a believer and you somehow stumbled upon this podcast, I’m not shaming you or trying to come after you. But I firmly believe that there IS proof that God exists. And I’m going to tell you a story about how I experienced a literal message from the Lord that completely has proven to me that he is a God who sees, a God who hears, and a God who loves. You might want to run and grab a few tissues for this one!

With the overturning of Roe V Wade this past summer, states have been creating their own laws surrounding abortion. Some have trigger laws in place that are completely outlawing abortion altogether, and some are creating even more broad abortion laws that are now allowing abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, for any reason, at any age without the notification of the parents if the person seeking abortion is a minor. This fact is one that I am emotionally charged by because I was a minor at the time of my abortion and did not have to notify my parents prior to or thereafter. While this episode may get a little “spicy” I do just want to ask that all of you listening, no matter what you believe or how you feel, please keep an open mind and really listen to what I have to share, and just know that it is coming from a place of love, compassion, and also truth because I lived through it. If you are someone listening to this and you were also a minor, and need healing, you are not alone and if you need someone to talk to please reach out to me on Instagram or by email. With that, let’s get started.

Good morning beautiful friend! I bet you weren’t expecting me to be in your ear today! I KNOW I said I would be back Wednesday for a new episode, but I kept hearing this little chirp in my ear about doing some sort of “mini episode” for today. So, we are going to begin today with what I have now dubbed “Monday Minisodes!” Every Monday, we are going to have a quick 5-ish minute episode exploring scripture so that we can start our week off on a positive and strong note. Because the enemy is always doing whatever he can to steal, kill, and destroy, and our biggest weapon against him is our faith in the word of God.
Today, we're going to have a quick chat about Romans 8:28. Grab your Bible, let’s get to it!

Did you know that there is an 81% increase of mental health problems after abortion? Each year, at least 50,000 women will experience serious emotional and mental health issues after an abortion. If you multiply that by the almost 50 years of Roe, that equates to 2.5 million women experiencing after-abortion trauma. This can present as symptoms similar to post-traumatic stress disorder.
There is an increased rate of substance abuse and suicide among women that have experienced abortion. And again, this doesn’t always happen right away after the abortion. It’s much more common for these symptoms to arise between 5 and 10 years after the abortion took place. It’s even harder to pinpoint why, because many of these women are keeping their abortion a secret.
Other symptoms that may be experienced are, but are not limited to: self-condemnation, self-esteem issues, anger/rage, depression, fear of losing a child, fearing pregnancy or infertility, crying spells, avoiding baby reminders, struggles with time management, eating disorders, tolerating abusive relationships, difficulty with intimacy, withdrawing from others, over-protective of living children, failure to bond with future children, and many, many others. So, what do we do? How do we seek help for PAT/PAS, or how do we help a friend/family member that we think is struggling?

1. Galations 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If you are the one suffering, TELL SOMEONE. Find a trusted friend or family member and confide in them. We are not meant to do this life alone. If you feel as though you do not have a friend or family member you can trust, reach out to a pastor at your church, or even a priest. I know that may seem scary, but they are meant to help you and to show you the redemptive love of Jesus. 2. Seek out an abortion recovery ministry Women struggling with the pain of a past abortion are living with undealt with grief.  The fact is, we DO have permission to grieve and heal and these ministries will help. I personally have gone through a Forgiven and Set Free bible study and participated in a Reassemble retreat as a facilitor trainee and would recommend them in a heartbeat. 3. Meet with a therapist trained in grief/loss, ptsd, or even better yet, abortion recovery. I would recommend a Christian counselor, but I think it’s most important to choose someone that works with similar situations as to what you are going through. I also want to say, that all 3 of these solutions work together really well, and just choosing one might not be enough for you. Truly, I think there is something to be said about diversifying your healing and making sure to discern what is best for you. 4. Bonus tip: GET IN YOUR BIBLE. Get to know God and see how his mercy shines upon you. Many of us view God as someone that judges and condemns, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. God is a God of mercy. Luke 5:31 “Jesus answered them, “it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
If you are struggling with PAT/PAS and you don’t want to live like that anymore, I’m praying that this episode will be the fuel you need to kickstart your healing journey. Don’t live another day feeling this way.

If you’re listening to this then you’ve probably had a moment in your life where you did something that was a MAJOR no-no. And before you say “who, me?!” YES, I’m talking to you, because literally none of us are free from sin. While Jesus set us free from our sin, He did so KNOWING that we were still going to go against Him and do bad or shady things. So, is there a sin that God doesn’t forgive? And is abortion one of those sins?
There are people out there that believe that. There are people out there that label certain sins as “unforgiveable.” But where is the Biblical evidence for that? If you ask the person to prove it, they likely don’t have a scripture that they can point to that says that the specific sin they are referring to is completely unforgiveable. Sometimes as humans in this broken world that is hard for us to grapple with, but God really does measure all sin the same.
I want to tell you a little story about my coming to faith journey. If you listened to episode one you know that I grew up in a Christian home but strayed away from my faith after my dad passed away. And, during that phase of my life, I walked into an abortion facility and ended the life of my unborn child, therefore shedding innocent blood. This is listed in Proverbs 6:17 along with the 7 acts God finds detestable.
But what we don’t seem to realize is, he finds the act detestable, but not the person. God doesn’t hate you when you do something against Him. He hates what you did, but not YOU. So you if confess your sin, and genuinely invite Him into your life, He isn’t going to scorn you no matter what your sin was. I didn’t used to realize this. I lived many years of my life thinking I needed to pay a penance for my sin of abortion. I craved a relationship with God and slowly grew closer to him, to the point where I went through believer baptism in October of 2017. I did not tell my pastor about my abortion, and I remember after I got out of the pool and everyone cheered, I had a feeling of joy and excitement that was being overshadowed with a dark cloud of fear, because the enemy kept whispering in my ear “that didn’t count. You didn’t tell the pastor about your abortion. There’s no way he would have baptized you if he knew about it. Good luck with your salvation because your baptism didn’t count and you can’t be forgiven.”
It wasn’t until I truly began to study scripture and really truly read and digest it that I realized that those were all lies. God DID forgive me, God doesn’t expect me to pay a penance, and my sin wasn’t “worse” in his eyes.
Here are FIVE bible verses that prove that God forgives ALL sin:
1. 1 John 1:9 2. Psalm 32:5 3. Psalm 103:2-5 4. Micah 7:18-19 5. Acts 3:19
To recap, none of these verses say “God will forgive all sin except abortion.” “God will forgive all sin except ‘insert specific sin here.’”
John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” You are free my friend, He doesn’t want you bound by those chains any longer. Don’t let the father of lies tell you otherwise.

Are you struggling with the pain of a past abortion and longing for help but don’t know where to turn? Maybe you don’t struggle with the pain of a past abortion, but are longing for redemption for a sin that you think is too big and too bad.

You’re in the right place. I’m Brittany, a wife, mom, and post-abortive woman that is now mission is to help other women find hope and healing through Jesus. For over 10 years I tried to hide the pain I carried with me as a result of my choice to have an abortion when I was 17 years old. I thought for years that I had committed the one sin that was unforgivable, and I awaited punishment from God and hid this secret in the deepest depths of my soul for over a decade.

After years of prompting from the Holy Spirit, I finally found redemption and hope through Jesus and was able to recognize that when He died or everyone, that meant He died for me too. Now that I am healed, God has placed a calling on my heart to “go and tell.” So, here I am, ready to walk alongside you so that you can find true hope and healing, too.

If you are ready to break free from those chains and recognize that God has a true plan and purpose for you no matter what you have done in your past, then this podcast is for you!

Fill up your favorite mug with some coffee and crack open your Bible because friend, it’s time to receive the Good, Good news!
