For over 10 years I tried to hide the pain I carried with me as a result of a choice I made when I was 17 years old. I ran from my faith, succumbed to self-destructive behaviors, and gave up the goals and dreams I no longer felt like I deserved. It wasn’t until God spoke to me through a worship song during one of the lowest points in my life that I realized that He truly had never left me and that he was calling me home. I opened up my Bible, studied his word, learned his true character, and partnered with him for eternity as he healed by heart and restored my brokenness. When you have an abortion, you are losing your child. While we cannot sit and compare the different ways we can lose our children, we do need to begin to acknowledge that children lost to abortion are just that - lost. We have experienced a loss.
It’s so hard for us to understand that because we made the choice. What we were not adequately informed of was the fact that what we would experience in years to come is grief over the loss of that child.
Forbidden grief in post-abortive women is so hard to navigate because when you feel you don’t have permission to move through your grief, you stay stuck in a stage for much longer.
My prayer is that your grief won’t stay unresolved forever. We can’t go back in time and change our mind but we can move forward. When you are busy in life and desire privacy to grieve, it can be hard to find it but I’m going to give you some places today that may comfort you.

Recently, I was tasked with hosting some market research calls with women struggling with the pain of their abortions with the hope of knowing how to better steward the podcast. Quite frankly, I didn't think I would be able to find the 5 minimum women I needed for this project.
I was surprised to have 10 of these market research calls with several more emails flooding my inbox with women wanting to help. I was blessed by every single conversation as these women shared their stories with me. I have promised to keep those stories and identities confidential, but today I did want to share one commonality: almost every single woman told me that they feel or have felt "alone" when it comes to their pain from abortion.
Today's episode is here to tell you that you are not alone, that there are other women out there that know the pain that you are feeling, and that God has not once ever left your side. I pray this episode is an encouragement to you today. I had not planned on doing this episode, but the holy spirit led me to recording it.

I'm getting vulnerable with you all today. 13 years ago, on this very day, I walked through the doors of my local abortion facility and ended the life of my unborn child.
This year has been harder than others, and the grief has been a bit more raw as we have been approaching this date. While I don't know why that is, I do know that I want to remain in Christ and give him my pain so that he can exchange it for his peace.

I’ve felt it on my heart to share this conviction for awhile now, but I just didn’t feel the time was right. In fact, I was prepared to scrap this episode altogether and completely forget about it.
That was, until I listened to podcast this week that made me think twice. In the episode I listened to, a married couple talking about the wife going on birth control. Her husband then said, "birth control should be free. We have all of these polarizing arguments about pro-life or pro-choice and free birth control would take care of it.”
I took that statement as a sign that this episode should exist.
I first and foremost want to preface this by saying that I love you all and I still love you even if we don’t share the same view on this. I also want to say that its ok to change your mind about things as you become convicted about certain topics and as you learn more about certain things. I'm not trying to change your mind with this episode, I am just sharing how mine has changed.

Almost two years ago, I walked through the doors of a Forgiven and Set Free Bible study and I walked out a completely changed woman, and for the better. The pain and hurt that I had carried with me for over a decade finally was converted to peace through Christ.
This Bible study taught me more about God than I had learned in my 28 years of life at that time. I was in my Bible more than I had ever been before, and for the first time I actually understood what it said.
Now, I am blessed to walk alongside other women that come to our retreats feeling lost and broken and walk out feeling found and whole in Christ. Today, I'm telling you about that and inviting you to step into that space, too.
